NICE / wider evidence basis
NICE CG174 adult inpatient IV-fluid principles: oral / enteral first where possible, the 5 Rs, daily reassessment, and escalation for complex redistribution or electrolyte problems.
Additional NHS trust implementations reviewed: used only to sense-check scenario themes such as post-op oliguria, frailty / cardiac failure caution, transfer reassessment, hidden fluid sources, and redistribution complexity.
How to interpret the app
Bedside Support is a ward-facing prompt tool, not order entry.
Learning Scenarios are educational cases derived from NICE-aligned principles and checked against the local general-ward scope.
Outside-pathway physiology should trigger senior review rather than blind continuation of the standard pathway.
